Reading the frontpage story on concerns that the excavators at Fromelles may be mixing digger body parts and watching the endless coverage of the recovery of bodies from Kokoda it seems a good time to remind Australians that we are neither Egyptians nor Americans. We do not believe we take our bodies into the afterlife. We do not worship at the shrines of our ancestors. Let the dead bury their dead, and let the living concern themselves with the welfare of the living.
